Description
The Service Now Software Engineer Senior will play a pivotal role in the DCSA OCIO client engagement by leveraging their expertise in the Service Now platform to enhance, optimize, and automate IT service management and business processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Service Now development, excellent problem‑solving skills, and a deep understanding of ITIL processes. They will work closely with stakeholders to understand requirements, design solutions, and implement Service Now modules and functionalities to meet the needs of the DCSA.
This position is remote with limited travel up to 10%.
- Design, develop, and implement Service Now solutions, including but not limited to modules such as IT Service Management (ITSM), IT Operations Management (ITOM), and IT Business Management (ITBM).
- Customize Service Now applications and facilitate configuration management of all implemented changes.
- Develop workflows, scripts, business rules, UI policies, UI actions, client scripts, and notifications.
- Design and implement integrations between Service Now and other enterprise systems using REST/SOAP APIs and integration hub.
- Automate routine tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual efforts.
- Serve as a technical advisor and lead on Service Now projects and initiatives.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to junior developers and team members.
- Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to best practices and coding standards.
- Work closely with stakeholders, including business analysts, project managers, and end‑users, to gather and understand requirements.
- Translate business requirements into technical specifications and actionable development tasks.
- Conduct thorough testing of developed solutions to ensure quality and functionality.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues and defects promptly.
- Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and user guides.
- Generate and present reports on system performance, usage metrics, and project status.
- BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Nine (9) or more years of hands‑on experience in Service Now development and administration.
- Secret clearance.
- Extensive experience with Service Now platform capabilities and tools, including scripting, customization, and configuration.
- Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and other relevant programming languages.
- Strong understanding of ITIL processes and best practices.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Service Now Certified System Administrator (CSA) certification.
- Service Now Certified Application Developer (CAD) certification.
- Experience with additional Service Now modules such as Security Operations (Sec Ops), Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC).
- Prior experience working with government or defense clients.
- Familiarity with Dev Ops practices and tools.
