Overview
Transform technology into opportunity as a Network Engineer with GDIT. As part of the NCIS ITD organization, you will support the mission-critical technology infrastructure for the Naval Criminal Investigative Service.
Shift Options- Shift 1:
Monday + Tuesday 5:00 pm - 1:30 am EST;
Friday - Sunday 10:00 pm - 6:30 am EST. - Shift 2:
Wednesday + Thursday 5:00 pm - 1:30 am EST;
Friday - Sunday 10:00 pm - 6:30 am EST. - Shift 3:
Monday - Friday 10:00 pm - 6:30 am EST.
Onsite at Quantico, VA.
Responsibilities- Provide technical support and troubleshooting services for incoming incidents related to computer systems, software, and hardware.
- Conduct end-user software and hardware troubleshooting, applying diagnostic techniques to identify problems, investigate causes, and recommend solutions.
- Identify recurring issues, notify management of patterns, and assist in preventive measures.
- Test and analyze all elements of network facilities.
- Offer step-by-step guidance to customers and escalation of complex problems to appropriate departments.
- Monitor and control the performance and status of network resources across multiple enclaves using software and hardware tools.
- Diagnose problems and factors affecting network performance; analyze traffic flows, access, and interfaces.
- Plan and analyze communication activities, including designing, integrating, installing, troubleshooting, repairing, testing, monitoring, reporting, and documenting.
- Perform testing, provisioning, operations, and emergency response for ongoing network operations.
- Oversee and manage upgrades to existing data, video, and related systems in a multi-location environment.
- Maintain current operational and support documentation.
- Stay informed of emerging technologies and trends in cloud storage, data center solutions, and related media.
- Active TS/SCI security clearance.
- 8+ years of general network experience, with 3+ years of specialized networking experience.
- Experience with engineering data center and IP backbone networks in multi-vendor, multi-protocol environments, including T1, DS3, fiber, DSL, Ethernet, and Ethernet over copper core.
- Proficiency with BGP, OSPF, vDC, vPC, VRF, spanning-tree, VLANs, 802.1q, QoS, Cisco ASA (active/active multi-context) and firewall technologies.
- Hands-on configuration of Cisco routers and switches (4500/6500, 3750, 3850, ASR 1000, Nexus 2K/5K/7K/9K) and data-center equipment.
- Experience configuring and managing firewalls such as Cisco Firepower, Palo Alto, Forcepoint, and Juniper SRX.
- Knowledge of NTP/MAB/F5 deployments.
- Experience with network management applications (Cisco ACS/ISE, Cisco Prime, Solar Winds).
- Security+ CE. CCNP or CISP required.
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
- US citizenship required.
