Overview

CommIT Enterprises, Inc. is seeking an Active Directory Administrator IV to join the team in Quantico, VA
. The successful candidate will be a self‑starter who thrives in a challenging environment, a team player who seeks new solutions and is willing to teach and learn. They will be part of an Enterprise Tier 3 level Active Directory (AD) support team supporting over 265,000 user accounts and 140,000 computer accounts across several AD domains on government‑operated networks. The team supports account and group management, security configuration of the AD infrastructure, DNS, DHCP, DFS, GPOs, and other directory services technologies.

The ideal candidate will provide Tier III level Active Directory support and have knowledge of the Windows Server operating system and relevant AD applications such as Lync, System Center Suite, and Exchange. The underlying infrastructure consists of physical servers and VMware‑based servers and requires knowledge in VMware virtualization and vCloud to perform specialized AD tasks.

CommIT is a Certified Veteran‑Owned Small Business that provides technical engineering and data‑science services, including cloud management, IT modernization, and cybersecurity.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain the overall health of technologies associated with AD and internal DNS.
  • Resolve AD tickets escalated from the service desk, provide administrative activities, and submit a weekly status report.
  • Coordinate incident tickets between Tier II and III sections and other sections as required.
  • Provide documentation, guidance and instruction to Tier II and service desks for handling standard AD incidents, work orders, and service requests.
  • Submit and execute AD‑related Request for Change tasks.
  • Monitor system availability and performance of AD with government‑provided event‑management tools, and take corrective action for incidents that reduce AD health.
  • Provide project support for AD‑related technologies.
  • Coordinate with the Engineering Team and other sections on AD‑related issues.
  • Support change‑management processes; submit requests through the Change Approval Board and participate in review boards.
  • Escalate product issues to third‑party product vendors as required; implement monitoring thresholds and conduct proactive event remediation.
  • Provide analysis and remediation for DISA STIGs for all responsible technologies in preparation for the annual Commanders Cyber Readiness Inspections (CCRI).
  • Document and implement technical solutions for operational requirements using existing and emerging technologies.
Qualifications
  • DoD 8580 IAT III (CASP+CE, CCNP Security, CISA, GCIH, GCED, or CISSP or Associate).
  • Professional level certification, e.g., MCSA Windows Server 2016/2019/2022, MCSE Core Infrastructure, Microsoft Windows Server Hybrid Administrator.
  • 7 years related experience.
  • Firewall, DMZ configuration, certificate configuration, and troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience with Power Shell to manage AD features, roles, mailboxes, performance, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience identifying the need for AD system reconfigurations.
  • Experience maintaining policies, procedures, and training plans for AD system administration and appropriate use.
  • Experience building, tuning, and maintaining servers in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience troubleshooting server performance issues using native Windows Server tools and utilities.
  • Strong experience with AD 2019/2022, planning, deploying, and migrating, including mailbox server failover and cluster management.
  • Extensive knowledge of AD architecture—databases and logs, mail routing, and protocol support.
  • Thorough working knowledge of Windows Server 2019/2022.
  • Ability to evaluate the need for any messaging system reconfigurations.
  • Ability to maintain policies, procedures, and training plans for messaging system administration.
  • Maintain a forward‑looking posture and work with management to plan future upgrades, including AD migration to newer versions.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Security Requirements
  • Top‑Secret with SSBI clearance (minimum level for consideration).
