FORESTER

Duties

You will develop forest area timber harvest plans based on field sample plots, maps, aerial photography, and computerized map and inventory data.

You will provide advice, technical support, and evaluation of proposed and ongoing timber sales, to prevent loss of timber productivity and damage to the environment.

You will plan, coordinate, and evaluate the timber stand improvement program; prescribe cutting practices based on an examination of stand conditions, aesthetics, or other resource requirements.

You will collect and assess the weather and fuel data necessary to determine the wildfire and prescribed fire management strategies.

You will provide training and assign work to Government and volunteer employees involved with forest pest suppression projects.
