HII Mission Technologies is seeking an experienced Network Communications 3 to support our Navy Integrated Training Environment (NITE) team. In this role, you will sustain secure, reliable communications within critical training environments, protecting sensitive information and ensuring Navy personnel have dependable network resources for training and mission execution.
What You Will Do- Operate, monitor, and maintain LAN, WAN, and VPN to ensure smooth, reliable performance.
- Plan, install, configure, and reconfigure network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, multiplexers, hubs, bridges, and gateways.
- Troubleshoot network connectivity issues (WAN circuits, equipment failures, router/switch configurations, firewall ACLs, VoIP device setup, cryptographic device/keying material).
- Coordinate with Navy, DISA, and commercial circuit providers for network implementation and issue resolution.
- Maintain Information Assurance compliance, including IOS upgrades, configuration changes, and firewall ACL verification.
- Support remote sites in restoring network operations after outages or failures.
- Prepare and maintain network documentation, including operational instructions and configuration records.
- Monitor network performance, conduct analysis, and provide recommendations for short‑and‑long‑term improvements.
- Coordinate third‑party maintenance for network equipment when required.
- Design network solutions, including hardware and software selection, to meet evolving operational needs.
- Work periodic shifts including evenings, nights, and weekends as required to support mission readiness and operational continuity.
- Experienced network professional with:
- 5 years relevant experience with a Bachelor’s in a related field; or
- 3 years relevant experience with a Master’s in a related field; or
- No degree but 9 years relevant experience; or
- PhD or Juris Doctorate in a related field with 0 years relevant experience.
- Experience installing and troubleshooting WAN/LAN equipment and circuits.
- Experience monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting ASA firewall ACLs.
- Ability to troubleshoot at the protocol/packet level using sniffers, protocol analyzers, Net Flow, logging, etc.
- Strong knowledge of Cisco networking, including IP addressing, VLANs, routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, multicast), and Cisco IOS.
- Hold a DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II baseline certification (e.g., Security+, CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, CND, SSCP).
- Hold a current active DoD Secret security clearance.
- Understanding of IP networking fundamentals, OSI model, and packet/frame structures.
- Experience in a Network Operations Center (NOC) environment, including help desk, customer communication, and ticket resolution.
- Familiarity with DoD Security Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIGs).
- Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., Solar Winds).
- Knowledge of network security technologies, including firewalls, VRFs, and port‑security/802.1x.
- Experience with NSA Type 1 cryptographic devices and key material (KG‑175D, KG‑75).
Job performance will normally require only minor lifting and carrying of boxes of records or equipment.
