The Compliance Department ensures compliance with regulatory requirements affecting investment dealers, including rules and policies of CIRO, provincial securities commissions, insurance commissions/councils, and other regulators. The department works closely with Distribution Leadership and management to develop corporate policies, identify business practices, execute review programs, manage client complaints, and conduct branch examinations.
Position SummaryThe Senior Compliance Specialist oversees advisors’ business activities and executes compliance programs such as reviews of insurance business practices and supervisory programs. The role includes analysis of documentation, reports, audit procedures, and interviews to identify trends or issues, recommending corrective actions, and ensuring implementation.
Duties Include- Provide oversight of advisors’ practices, especially insurance, financial planning, mortgage, and banking solutions.
- Offer guidance and direction to field teams, including remedial actions through meetings, training sessions, and exception approvals.
- Prepare and distribute management reports on completed programs to senior management, field directors, and regulators.
- Review policies and procedures to identify gaps, assess effectiveness, and recommend enhancements for compliance and efficiency.
- Mentor and support junior staff in managing complex or escalated cases.
- Minimum five years of experience in a financial services environment, preferably with licensing in insurance, investment, or compliance.
- Post‑secondary degree in a relevant business discipline.
- Completion or commitment to complete the Life License Qualification Program (LLQP) within a specified timeframe.
- CFP designation or Qc Pl. Fin license is an asset.
- In‑depth knowledge of financial planning strategies.
- Strong understanding of industry regulatory requirements from Insurance Councils, CIRO, and other bodies.
- Proficiency with MS Office and comfort using AI tools.
- Fluency in French (speaking, reading, writing) and strong verbal & written communication in English.
- Comfortable with public speaking and presenting to large audiences.

The expected annual base salary range is $56,000 – $80,000, based on skills, knowledge, experience and geographic location. Eligible for annual short‑term incentive, health and well‑being benefits, retirement plan, paid time off, and career development.
