Location: Quebec

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all operational finance functions (AP, AR, payroll, GL, taxes)
  • Manage a team of approximately 17 people including a head accountant
  • Ensure the reliability, integrity and availability of financial information
  • Act as a key partner to the FP&A team (separate function)
Financial Information and Close
  • Supervise preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
  • Lead the financial close process (timelines, quality, accuracy)
  • Ensure rigor in journal entries and reconciliations
Analysis and Performance
  • Collaborate with FP&A on budget vs. actual analyses
  • Contribute to interpretation of financial results
  • Support managers in understanding performance
Budgeting and Forecasting
  • Provide reliable financial data for the annual budget
  • Contribute to forecasting and financial planning
  • Participate in discussions on profitability and performance
Internal Controls and Compliance
  • Implement and optimize internal controls
  • Ensure compliance with accounting and tax standards
  • Participate in internal and external audits
Optimization of Financial Operations
  • Standardize and improve end-to-end financial processes
  • Collaborate with IT teams on financial systems and data quality
  • Identify and implement continuous improvements
Leadership and Team Management
  • Lead, engage and develop a multidisciplinary team
  • Define roles, responsibilities and accountability
  • Promote a culture of performance, collaboration and rigor
Business Partnership
  • Act as a strategic partner to operational teams
  • Work closely with FP&A
  • Contribute to business decisions and cross-functional projects
Key Performance Indicators
  • Adherence to financial close timelines
  • Reliability and quality of financial information
  • Effectiveness of processes and controls
  • Team performance and engagement
  • Quality of support to business partners
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA designation (required or a major asset)
  • 8–12 years of relevant experience
  • Significant experience in team management
  • Experience in an SME or high-growth environment (asset)
  • Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in accounting standards (IFRS or ASPE)
  • Strong financial analysis skills
  • Advanced Excel and ERP proficiency
  • Power BI experience (asset)
