Job SummaryReporting directly to the Director of Legal Affairs and Human Resources, the Senior Legal Counsel – Legal and Regulatory Affairs will play a key role within the legal department. He or she will work directly with the Director of Legal Affairs to address questions related to strategic risk management, internal governance, and regulatory compliance for the clinic. This role combines a variety of legal tasks, including corporate law advice, administrative and health law litigation, regulatory monitoring, document management, contract review, and support for corporate governance.
MainResponsibilities
- Work closely with the Director of Legal Affairs and the legal team.
- Monitor and update litigation files (administrative law, labor law, disciplinary law), represent the company before the courts, and liaise with external counsel.
- Ensure regulatory compliance.
- Manage, standardize, and review all network contracts (employees, subcontractors, consultants, suppliers).
- Manage the obtaining and renewal of government permits for group entities.
- Draft legal opinions.
- Assist the management of the various departments with all regulatory and legal matters.
- Be an inspiring ambassador for the company's values and mission.
- Maintain the minutes of the board of directors and the company's books.
- Respond to all requests for investigation or inspection from the various organizations governing medicine and collaborate, if necessary, with external counsel.
- Knowledge of non‑profit corporate law is an asset.
- Perform all other related tasks.
- Member of the Quebec Bar (required).
- 8 to 10 years of relevant experience (required) in administrative litigation (administrative law), health law, and disciplinary matters.
- Demonstrated skills in legal and contractual drafting.
- Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail in prioritizing tasks.
- Political acumen, discretion, and mature professional judgment.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Good knowledge of laws relating to health, confidentiality, and the protection of personal information.
- Fluency in French and English (spoken and written).
