THE ROLE IN A NUTSHELL

The Director, Enterprise Billing, leads and transforms Green Shield’s billing function, consolidating processes into a unified operation and supporting the billing needs of each of Green Shield’s lines of business (LOBs). This role sets governance standards, ensures accurate and timely invoice generation, monitors key metrics (error rates, revenue leakage), and resolves issues proactively. The Director manages the end-to-end billing process up to invoice issuance and general ledger entry, excluding accounts receivable and collections.

Collaboration with other teams is vital for improving accuracy, automation, controls, audit compliance, and scalability.

  • Enterprise Billing Governance: Establish a unified framework for all billing functions, chair a cross-functional team, and align operations and billing transformation initiatives with company goals and client experience.
  • Billing Operations Management: Oversee daily billing activities, implement standardized procedures, resolve issues quickly, and promote quality and customer service.
  • System Consolidation & Migration: Lead system upgrades and data migrations in collaboration with IT to ensure smooth transitions and support all billing scenarios.
  • Automation & Control Enhancement: Increase automation, reduce errors, implement controls, and establish centralized logging to enhance compliance and efficiency.
  • KPI Tracking & Performance Reporting: Track and report on core billing metrics, use data for improvements, and set and monitor service level targets.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Audit Readiness: Ensure compliance with regulations and corporate policies, maintain robust documentation, and support auditors as needed.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with teams across Underwriting, Product, Client Administration, IT, Finance, Sales, and Compliance to maintain process integrity.
  • Continuous Improvement & Scalability: Foster ongoing enhancements through analytics, stakeholder feedback, and automation, ensuring billing processes remain efficient as the business grows.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • 8+ years in billing or financial operations, ideally in insurance or health benefits.
  • Familiarity with enterprise billing systems is essential; knowledge of Green Shield’s platforms is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of billing, controls, and analytics.
  • Proficient in reporting and regulatory compliance related to billing.
  • Experience in leading process improvements, function transformations, and large-scale system implementations.
  • Excellent leadership, change management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives and ensure data accuracy under tight deadlines.
  • Bachelor’s in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • Master’s/MBA preferred.
  • CPA/CMA or equivalent preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma or PMP certification beneficial.
