THE ROLEAs an Assistant Mess Manager you provide an excellent customer experience in our military messes. During big events to everyday moments you build a rapport with the military community while utilising your operational and hospitality experience. Military messes are places where Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members come together to socialise and foster morale. The Assistant Mess Manager ensures the smooth operation of the messes’ activities and operations, including procurement and bar operations, while adhering to strict requirements for health, hygiene and safety.
You enforce provincial liquor legislation and DND, CF and Unit policies concerning responsible serving of alcohol, employee drinking restrictions and customer behaviour. You evaluate and recommend staff requirements for functions, oversee protocol, table settings, seating plans, special menus and beverage requirements for the dining room. This is a role where everyone works as one team to provide the best customer experience for our members and contributes to a positive workplace.
NEEDED Education, Certifications and Licences
- Several years experience in the food service sector, or in a related hospitality field, including supervisory experience.
- Provincial Responsible Service of Alcohol certification.
- Coordinating hospitality services.
- Applying policies, procedures and relevant legislation.
- Organising banquets and functions.
- Inventory and bar management.
- Personnel administration.
- Using software for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, databases, e‑mail and Internet browsing.
