This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and in accordance with standards of professional nursing practice utilizing the framework for professional nursing practice and development. The position is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others who are under their direction. It utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills necessary to assess data and plan, provide and evaluate care appropriate to the physical and developmental age of assigned patients.

• Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs; review patient history, diagnostics and laboratory data; report abnormal results; complete assessments and re-assessments within appropriate timeframe.
• Formulate a plan of care, including discharge planning, based on assessment data and input from patient, family and health team; set realistic, measurable goals; revise plan as patient needs change.
• Implement the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation and supervision of the health care team; ensure compliance with policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Evaluate patient’s and family’s response to care and teaching; revise the plan of care as needed; evaluate progress toward goals and expected outcomes.
• Document assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record with legible, timely entries that reflect objective/subjective data, nursing interventions and patient response.
• Provide care based on the best evidence available; participate in research activities within clinical practice; engage in unit or facility shared leadership; mentor and support staff development when appropriate.
• Contribute to societal improvements through activities that lead to excellent patient outcomes and participate in professional organizations to enhance national nursing quality indicators.
• In some roles, supervise staff and workflow of the department.
• Interact with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts to facilitate health care coordination and provide spiritual support when needed.

• Current, valid RN license in state of practice (or temporary/interim RN license or compact RN licensure for the state of practice).
• BLS certification is required.
• Experience in the clinical area for which applying is desired; one year experience in an acute care hospital setting required for Banner Registry and Travel acute care positions, and within the past 12 months as a Registered Nurse in that specialty.
• Must maintain clinical performance competencies appropriate to the area, demonstrated through annual validations.
• For positions in behavioral health or home health, possession of an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card and Arizona Criminal History Affidavit is required.

• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Professional certification preferred.
• Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
