Work with a purpose! Gadsden Correctional Facility located in Quincy FL., is now hiring career-minded people to assist with securing the safety of our community while positively impacting the lives of those on the inside.

Position Summary:

Reports to the deputy warden of programs. Directly supervises the academic instructor, education counselor, library manager, programs clerk, and vocational instructor. Responsible for the management of the education department in compliance with American Correctional Association (ACA) standards, Management & Training Corporation (MTC), and Florida Department of Corrections (FDOC) directives. Gadsden Correctional Facility is a gender responsive, trauma informed female facility. Your responsibilities will include the application of gender responsive and trauma informed care and practices while working with female offenders.

Essential Functions:

1. Plan, coordinate and manage the administrative and programmatic activities of the department.

2. Provide staff training, evaluate staff performance and implement organization and personnel changes as approved by the deputy warden, programs and coordinated with the human resources manager prior to implementation.

3. Develop departmental budget; monitor and control expenditures. Review and recommend changes to budget authorizations.

4. Develop and implement new and revised policies and procedures affecting education. Coordinate with other departments to ensure compliance with overall facility objectives.

5. Cooperate with and serves as a liaison to facility staff.

6. Direct the preparation of reports required by specific requests, rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

7. Conduct reviews/audits of all assigned functions on a regular basis to ensure contractual compliance, delivery of quality services to inmates and appropriate appearance and cleanliness of areas.

8. Supervise the development and implementation of programs for the department. Ensure effective administration, adherence to curricula requirements and effective team approach between academic and vocational training components.

9. Plan and manage work assignments and schedule of activities. Monitor class loads and instructor assignments to meet inmate educational needs.

10. Monitor the maintenance and cleaning of education building and equipment.

11. Counsel inmates regarding personal growth and development, education goals and transition plans.

12. Monitor operation of library.

13. Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed. Provide regular feedback to staff regarding social skills procedures and intervention techniques.

14. Maintain accountability of staff, inmates and property; adhere to safety practices.

It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Master's degree with a strong emphasis on educational administration and supervision required. Must also possess a Florida educator certificate and three (3) years' experience as a classroom teacher required. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.

Post Hire Requirements:

Must attain and maintain appropriate facility security clearance. Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements.
