About this role

We’re hiring passionate nurses to join our dynamic team in a supportive work environment at the Gadsden Correctional Facility in Quincy, FL. This role involves delivering exceptional patient care, advancing your career, and contributing to a healthcare team that values expertise and compassion.

Primary Duties
  • Attend sick call with physicians to examine inmates, preparing examination room and equipment.
  • Call physicians for medication and treatment orders and other emergencies.
  • Operate pill call, administer medication, and accurately document treatment per policies and procedures.
  • Examine and assess inmates with illnesses or injuries; confer with physicians to refer to ER when required.
  • Practice basic cost containment and utilization management for inmate care and facility operations.
  • Maintain security and confidentiality of all medical records; observe HIPAA rules.
  • Accurately and promptly chart medical care and review files to ensure comprehensive documentation.
  • Monitor catastrophic illnesses and comply with applicable pharmacy laws, especially controlled substances.
  • Observe and record inmate behavior, triage, and document appropriately.
  • Inspect medical unit for contraband; securely store or dispose of supplies and equipment.
  • Control medications, syringes, and other medical supplies.
  • Perform work on an on-call basis as required.
  • Facilitate NCCHC/ACA accreditation of the medical program by providing required efficiency and services.
  • Prepare and disseminate safety and accident reports; take appropriate action in serious incidents and emergencies.
  • Initiate and complete investigations and inquiries; gather information, interview, and recommend disciplinary actions when warranted.
  • Perform rescue functions during accidents, emergencies, and disasters, administering basic emergency medical aid and evacuating people from confined areas.
Education & Experience Requirements
  • Degree in nursing.
  • Current, valid nursing license for the state of Florida.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Must work within Florida state board of nursing scope of practice.
  • Valid driver’s license in Florida with an acceptable driving record (unless waived by management).
