Job Description Summary

The EHS Workers' Compensation RN coordinates and implements hospital-wide programs for the prevention and control of workplace associated illnesses and injuries for health system employees.

Essential Functions
  • Case Management, surveillance and reporting on workplace injuries and illnesses, including reporting to government agencies, contact tracing, vaccine administration, pre-placement assessments and collaborating with frontline staff and leaders to enhance protections for staff and patients.
  • Performs preplacement evaluations on new employees utilizing a high level of physical assessment skills.
    • Accurately with appropriate documentation.
    • Performed efficiently, within 1/2 hour.
  • Plays an essential role in providing routine and emergency care to employees, recognizing urgent health situations and/or making appropriate recommendations and/or health care referrals based on skilled assessment findings.
    • Consults with Nurse Practitioner when necessary for employee evaluation.
    • Orders appropriate diagnostic tests utilizing approved protocols.
    • Follows the care of the employee throughout the period of injury.
    • Works with finance to determine employee wages during period of disability.
  • HR Liaison to Recruitment.
    • Attend weekly meetings to determine trends and outcomes on contracted employees.
  • Body Fluid Exposure Reporting.
    • Maintain OSHA sharps log for reporting monthly and yearly injuries.
  • Ability to triage care via SICKline.
  • Liaison to Infection Prevention, TPA and managers as needed to carry out the preceding duties.
  • Job Requirements
    • Minimum Education:

      Preferred Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing as validated through the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing.
    • Preferred:
      Previous Acute Care RN experience.
    • Required

      Licenses/Certifications:

      Registered Nurse – Board of Registration in Nursing (Massachusetts).
    • Required additional Knowledge and Abilities:
      Thorough understanding of healthcare and is data driven and colleague focused;
      Vaccination and TB screening experience required; CIC or COHN certification (preferred);
      Excel experience (preferred).
