KHQA is seeking a motivated, energetic, and creative Multimedia Journalist (MMJ) to join our news team in Quincy, IL! The ideal candidate will report, shoot, write and edit compelling news stories daily for multiple platforms, which include television, websites, social media, and mobile devices. The MMJ must also be comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-platform news environment. This is a full-time position, and additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Job Responsibilities- Shoot, write, and edit packages and vo-sots
- Pitch strong stories that fit our newsroom brand, are important to our audience, and will have an impact
- Gather stories through a variety of sources, contacts, and interviews
- Create both written and video content for our digital and social platforms
- Produce special reports as needed
- Create web-extra content
- Go live in the field
- Sharp news judgment
- The ability to tell an NPPA style story
- Excellent technical skills
- The ability to work well independently
- Must have and maintain a valid license and a good driving record
- 1-2 years reporting experience is preferred
- A degree in journalism or related field preferred
- Experience with live shots is preferred
- Experience with Live-U is a plus
