* About the Role:

** As a Registered Nurse in Oncology Lab at Quincy Medical Group, you will play a vital role in supporting patients throughout their cancer treatment journey. Working alongside oncologists, infusion nurses, and the multidisciplinary oncology team, you will provide specialized nursing care focused on laboratory services, vascular access, patient assessment, and care coordination.

This position is ideal for a nurse who enjoys building meaningful relationships with patients, has strong assessment skills, and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced oncology environment. Your work will help ensure patients receive timely treatment while delivering compassionate, patient-centered care.
** Schedule & Work Environment
*** Full-time position, Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with one scheduled half-day each week.
* No weekends, holidays, or overnight shifts.
* Fast-paced outpatient oncology clinic supporting patients receiving cancer treatment and follow-up care.
* Collaborative team environment focused on exceptional patient care and clinical excellence.
** Primary Responsibilities
*** Perform peripheral blood draws as well as laboratory collections from ports, PICCs, and other central venous access devices (CVADs).
* Access and assess implanted ports, PICCs, and other vascular access devices to ensure proper function and identify potential complications.
* Escort patients to exam rooms or laboratory areas and prepare them for provider visits as needed.
* Obtain and document vital signs, weight, current medications, medical history updates, and other clinical information within the electronic medical record.
* Assist patients with additional specimen collection as ordered by providers.
* Administer medications, injections, and therapeutic phlebotomy as directed within scope of practice and organizational policies.
* Monitor patients for changes in condition and communicate abnormal findings to providers promptly.
* Coordinate laboratory testing and future ancillary orders through the electronic medical record.
* Maintain accurate and complete patient documentation, including medication reconciliation, allergies, patient instructions, and care coordination activities.
* Monitor and maintain exam room and laboratory supplies, linens, and sharps containers to ensure clinical readiness.
* Collaborate closely with providers, infusion nurses, laboratory staff, and the oncology care team to promote efficient patient flow and high-quality care.
* Perform other duties as assigned to support oncology operations.
** Qualifications
* ** Current Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
* Graduate of an accredited nursing program required.
* Current CPR certification required.
* Previous oncology, infusion, medical-surgical, outpatient clinic, or vascular access experience preferred.
* Experience accessing ports, PICCs, and other central venous access devices preferred.
* Strong assessment, critical thinking, and patient education skills.
* Knowledge of chemotherapy medications and their therapeutic and adverse effects preferred.
* Excellent communication and organizational skills.
* Experience with electronic medical records preferred.

The compensation for this role includes a base pay range of **$26.25 - $39.38 per hour**, with actual pay determined by experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. Additional compensation may be available through bonuses and other incentives. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.
