This position is responsible for promoting a safe environment for patients, visitors, and employees by patrolling parking lots, protecting physical assets, responding to all security issues, and maintaining good working relationships with local law enforcement agencies and the Emergency Department staff. The Emergency Department Security Officer(s) will serve as the law‑enforcement liaison. The role requires lifting/moving/carrying objects or persons, restraining combative patients, escorting incarcerated patients, and assisting law‑enforcement personnel to various hospital areas.

Security Officers specified to the Emergency Department only must attend daily emergency department huddles. The position also requires full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Blessing Hospital and demonstrating behavior consistent with the core values while supporting strategic goals.

• High School Graduate or equivalent.
• Obtain Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification within 30 days of hire.
• Function quickly and calmly in emergency situations.
• Attend daily emergency department huddles (Emergency Department officers only).
• Effective written and verbal communication skills in order to work well as a team and independently.

• Typing and computer skills.
• Knowledge of security functions obtained through education or work experience (e.g., military, law enforcement, fire department, other medical response positions).
• Previous crisis intervention training and experience.

• Valid driver's license.
• CPR/BLS preferred.

• Non‑exempt hourly.
