Job Summary
Under the direction of the Dean of Liberal Arts/Professional Programs, the college seeks a qualified instructor to design and instruct courses for the Fire Science Technology Program.
Key Responsibilities- Create, design, and teach courses in Fire Science Technology.
- Collaborate with other faculty in planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating courses.
- Provide high-quality teaching to Quincy College students.
- Prepare syllabi that meet college requirements, including objectives, reading, and assessment methods.
- Attend scheduled classes and faculty meetings.
- Maintain a classroom environment that promotes discussion and respects each student.
- Adhere to Faculty Handbook policies including attendance, make‑up, early dismissal, and final exams.
- Prepare in advance for each class and communicate any syllabus changes.
- Distribute notices of concern promptly.
- Provide timely feedback on exams and homework.
- Submit required paperwork (contracts, syllabi, class lists, attendance sheets, final grades) on time.
- Participate in mandatory training/courses:
Title IX, Non-discrimination, Security Policy, FERPA, Bi‑Annual Municipal Ethics Law. - Perform other duties as assigned.
Education
:
Master’s Degree in the field or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.
Experience
:
- College‑level teaching experience in the subject area, preferably in a community college setting.
- Substantial work experience in the field is a plus.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to working with a diverse student population.
- Experience using technology in the classroom and/or for distance learning, and traditional/nontraditional methods of instruction.
- Online, hybrid, remote, or blended teaching experience required.
- Experience using multiple measures to assess student learning.
- Experience teaching adult learners.
Additional Requirements
:
Successful completion of Quincy College’s certification program (Canvas, Quality Matters, Canvas Studio) or equivalent.
Additional Qualifications
:
Demonstrated academic excellence, compassion, and enthusiasm for community college students.
This position requires online teaching and may require travel to Quincy Campus, Plymouth Campus, and/or Boston Site.
CompensationThree‑credit lecture courses: $3,100–$4,000 depending on enrollment and degree level. One‑credit lab courses: $1,375–$1,750 depending on enrollment and degree level.
