The North End Music & Performing Arts Center (NEMPAC) is seeking an instructor to teach an early childhood Dance & Movement class at our Charlestown Working Theatre in Charlestown, MA. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, organized, and is excellent at communication with both the school and NEMPAC administration.

Description:

Designed for our youngest dancers and their caregivers, this early childhood dance and movement class engages babies and toddlers (ages 18 months – 3 years) through music, creative movement, rhythm, and play. Classes focus on coordination, imagination, confidence, and bonding through movement.

• Thursday, starting September 17th – December 3rd
• 9:30 AM – 10:15 AM
• 10:30 AM – 11:15 AM

$55‑60 per class

• Teach an engaging group dance and movement lesson for up to 8 students ages 18 months – 3 years.
• Communicate effectively with parents/guardians.
• Complete and submit curriculum template worksheet.
• Foster a welcoming, consistent, and engaging learning environment that supports each child's growth and encourages caregiver participation.
• Attend start‑of‑year faculty meeting and participate in session‑end "share performances."

• At least one year of teaching experience in dance, creative movement, early childhood education, or a related field, particularly in group classroom settings.
• Bachelor's degree (or current pursuit of a bachelor's degree) in Dance, Early Childhood Education, Arts Education, Music Education, or a related field preferred. College seniors, recent graduates, and graduate students are encouraged to apply. Equivalent professional teaching experience will also be considered.
• Experience working with young children (ages 18 months – 3 years) and an understanding of developmentally appropriate teaching practices for early learners. Experience teaching caregiver‑and‑child classes is a plus.
• Passion for fostering creativity, confidence, and joyful learning through movement, music, and play.
• Strong communication, organization, and time management skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with families, students, and NEMPAC staff.
• Teaching artists should be responsive to individual student needs and committed to creating an inclusive, welcoming classroom where every child and caregiver feels a sense of belonging.
• Enjoy working in a community music and performing arts school setting and embody NEMPAC's mission of making high-quality arts education accessible to all.
