Job DescriptionThe adaptive physical education teacher will provide direct services to students with disabilities, including but not limited to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Responsibilities Include:- Designs and directs adaptive physical education classes
- Prepares relevant gross motor and gym class materials
- Adapts activities and equipment to meet the unique needs of each student
- Provides instruction on motor skills, fitness, and overall physical development
- Collaborates with classroom teachers and other related service providers to support student progress
- Participates in professional development that is specific to the field and meets requirements to maintain licensure
Skills:
- Experience with adaptive and mobility equipment
- Experience with behavior management/de-escalation strategies
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education preferred
- Valid Physical Education PreK-8 License through the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education preferred
- Certification by the National Consortium for Physical Education for Individuals with Disabilities (NCPEID) preferred
- Building principal and special education team administrator
- Director of Special Education & Special Education Coordinator
$125.00 per day, $150.00 per day after 20 consecutive days
