Job Description Position Overview

The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for working on the creation, modification and improvements of robotic equipment used in warehouse automation in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Conceptualization, design, analysis, fabrication and testing of automated material handling equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Create and design 3D machinery, tailor‑made sets, and subsets.
  • Provide technical support to the production of projects.
  • Develop and modify tools and equipment devices of robotic cells.
  • Visit customers to retrieve data.
  • Prepare purchase requisitions for equipment or special components.
  • Search for products and components, contact suppliers.
  • Commissioning of equipment and participating in fabrication and assembly tasks.
  • Participate in the elaboration of maintenance & operations manuals.
  • Supervise, elaborates, defines and plans work from relatively clear objectives.
  • Designing of parts, mechanisms, weldments, and industrial structures.
  • Elaborates and documents test procedures for prototype validation.
  • Validate critical mechanical components.
Qualifications
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field.
  • 2+ years of work experience in a hands‑on Mechanical engineering or design role.
  • 2+ years of experience in the robotics industry or other relevant field.
  • Understanding of design intent across disciplines (electrical, controls, robotics, and vision).
  • Knowledge of Solid Works, AutoCAD, other CAD software and FEA are assets.
  • Proficient in design and drafting standards.
  • Understanding of fabrication processes (turning, milling, welding, etc.).
  • PLM and/or PDM experience.
