Seeking a Part‑Time RN role on days with sign‑on bonus eligibility. Join our team on 5 South, Jefferson Hospital’s Medical Progressive Care Unit!

This 28‑bed unit offers high‑level cardiac monitoring and integrated patient care for those with respiratory failure, heart failure, and patients requiring bi‑pap, chest tubes, and titratable intravenous drips.

The position is part‑time, working 20 hours per week on day shift. A generous sign‑on bonus may also be available for eligible candidates.

General Overview

The Registered Nurse assesses human responses and plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for individuals or families for whom the nurse is responsible. The RN is fully responsible for all actions as a licensed nurse and is accountable to patients for the quality of care delivered.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Provides leadership in a professional practice setting and contributes to building the team through role modeling and mentoring.
  • Assigns or delegates tasks based on patient needs and staff skill level; assigns duties and lunches during charge role.
  • Considers maintenance of a safe environment, patient condition, complexity of intervention, and predictability of outcome when assigning care.
  • Provides peers with verbal and written feedback regarding clinical practice and role performance.
  • Shares knowledge and skills with peers and colleagues and accepts mistakes to foster a culture of safe risk‑taking.
  • Participates on interdisciplinary teams to evaluate clinical care or health services and promotes patient‑safety initiatives such as National Patient Safety Goals.
  • Participates in department‑specific quality and evidence‑based practice initiatives, ensures appropriate order sets are used.
  • Supervises delegates and evaluates assigned LPN scope of practice as appropriate.
  • Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, evaluate, and implement a patient plan of care per individual needs, physician orders, and hospital policy.
  • Derives culturally and age‑appropriate expected outcomes involving the patient, family, and other health‑care providers.
  • Analyzes the health status of individuals and families, comparing data with norms when possible, to determine patient care needs.
  • Monitors patient reports/records for changes in condition, notifies physicians and/or supervisors, and intervenes appropriately with documentation.
  • Accepts assignments in areas beyond the primary unit, performing duties within individualized competency.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to lifelong learning for self and others, and promotes professional advancement through participation in organizations.
  • Seeks formal and independent learning activities using current research and evidence to maintain and develop clinical and professional skills.
  • Participates in systematic peer review, obtains informal feedback on practice, and identifies areas for development.
  • Meets time and attendance guidelines per hospital policy and continuously evaluates patient and family satisfaction.
  • Participates in department‑specific patient satisfaction initiatives and promotes compassionate, patient‑centric communication to resolve concerns.
  • Utilizes effective time‑management skills to complete duties and responsibilities within the established shift.
Qualifications
  • Minimum Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
  • Current State of PA RN licensure OR current multi‑state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC)
  • CPR certification (preferred)
  • Preferred certification in area of specialty
