Position: Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) Jobs

Assistant Chief Nursing Officer

The ACNO promotes high quality, patient-centered care by assisting the CNO in executive-level management of resources, strategic planning, and development.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the CNO in developing and implementing policies and procedures that align with professional standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular rounds on patients, families, employees, and physicians to enhance communication and ensure alignment.
  • Lead continuous performance improvement initiatives to measure and improve the quality of care.
  • Follow up on patient complaints and occurrence reports in a thorough and timely manner.
  • Identify system problems that contribute to errors and monitor corrective actions.
  • Promote a positive patient interaction culture and engage in service recovery when necessary.
  • Support development and implementation of strategies to elevate the patient experience.
  • Participate in creating a professional practice environment that encourages recruitment and retention of nursing staff.
  • Foster evidence-based practice, clinical research, and a culture of professional and ethical conduct.
  • Lead by example to promote independence and autonomy among staff.
  • Encourage independent thinking, problem solving, and active participation in decisions impacting nursing practice.
  • Provide continuity education and development to staff and serve as preceptor for graduate students as needed.
  • Collaborate with nursing educators, physicians, and other departments to set goals and develop action plans for improvement.
  • Represent nursing services at meetings and participate in professional organizations.
  • Assist in planning new services and related projects for improved revenue generation.
  • Assist the CNO in budgeting, cost management, and staffing to ensure high-quality care.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and adhere to the Code of Conduct and Mission and Value Statement.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (required). Master's Degree in Nursing, related healthcare field, or equivalent/current enrollment (preferred).
  • Five (5) or more years of supervisory nursing experience.
  • Five (5) or more years of direct leadership in a hospital or patient care setting.
  • Active RN license in the state(s) of practice or an active compact license.
  • Strong skills in communication, strategic relationship building, service and quality excellence, leadership development, efficiency, proactive thinking, and innovation.
  • Ability to demonstrate integrity, trust, and a willingness to cultivate dignity and respect.
