UPMC Pinnacle Medical Services is hiring a Full‑Time Nurse Midwife to join their team at UPMC Divine Mercy Women’s Hospital. The position is based primarily in Camp Hill with regular travel to UPMC Carlisle and other Central Pennsylvania birthing hospitals. Hours are Monday through Sunday with rotating weekends, holidays, and on‑call duties of 12‑ or 24‑hour shifts.
Degree of the District: UPMC Divine Mercy, UPMC Carlisle, and other Central PA birth hospitals and sites support the midwife as needed. The facility is faith‑based, offers CME opportunities, and supports a career ladder through committees for policies, quality, education, and mentoring.
Responsibilities- Perform accurate history and physical examinations on essentially healthy women.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, diagnose problems, and manage minor problems and illnesses.
- Provide primary obstetric and gynecologic care in an ambulatory setting: preconception, prenatal, labor and delivery management, postpartum care, normal newborn care, well‑woman gynecology, family planning, counseling in health promotion, maintenance and disease prevention.
- Participate in research and continuing education activities.
- Instruct and supervise nursing and medical personnel.
- Follow mandatory reporting procedures for incidents or serious events affecting clinical care.
- Identify deviations from normal, consult, co‑manage or refer as appropriate.
- Provide individualized educational opportunities for students, including mentoring, supervision, and evaluation.
- Provide individualized client teaching and counseling using the nurse‑midwifery philosophy.
- Completion of an accredited school of nurse midwifery required.
- Bachelor’s degree required; BSN preferred.
- Preferred midwifery experience; preferred women’s health nursing/labor suite experience.
- Ability to use independent judgment to monitor and respond to changes in a patient’s condition.
- Interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills to work effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
- CPR required; BLS or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certification within 30 days of hire.
- Registered Nurse license in the state where the facility is located, or a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state.
- Eligible to apply for licensure within 60 days if residency changes to the state where the facility is located.
