Position Summary
As a Registered Nurse in our Inpatient Pediatric Float Pool at Boston Children’s Hospital, bring your expertise to help meet the ever‑changing nursing care needs across the enterprise. Working across all inpatient settings, each shift brings opportunities to work with new colleagues, further develop and learn new skills. Orientation is approximately 12 weeks with both Float Pool and Unit‑Based preceptors.
- Providing competent nursing care to patients (newborn – adult) and their families across all inpatient settings including surgical, medical, oncology, bone marrow transplant, intermediate care, neuroscience, Behavioral Health Emergency Department, and Inpatient Psychiatry units.
- Potential for cross training in additional areas including Cardiology, various procedural units, and the Vascular Access Team.
- Delivering family‑centered care as a member of a multidisciplinary team that provides expert care.
- Working in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment with many opportunities for learning and career growth with comprehensive orientation to meet individual needs.
- Opportunities to be involved in hospital‑wide committees and to precept new staff and nursing students.
Education:
A bachelor’s degree in nursing.
Experience:
A minimum of 1‑year inpatient acute care RN experience required with a wide range of diagnoses preferred; pediatric RN experience preferred. Ability to work 50% Day/Night rotations, every third weekend, and flexibility of availability required. Straight nights with every third weekend also available.
Current Massachusetts license as a Registered Nurse (RN).
BenefitsEligible for a $10,000 sign‑on bonus for 36‑hour per week hires (pro‑rated for less than 36 hours) for RNs with a minimum of 1 year of pediatrics inpatient RN experience. (Internal candidates and former BCH employees who have worked here in the past 2 years are not eligible). Additional $8.00 per hour incentive for all clinical hours worked.
The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good‑faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting. Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job‑related factors.
