Job Summary

Registered Nurse – Temporary (PRN) at MO-SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital. The RN assesses, manages, directs, and provides nursing care during the patient’s hospital stay and coordinates care with other disciplines using a patient‑centered approach.

• Conduct comprehensive assessments and re‑assessments, including admission, transfer, and post‑operative evaluations.
• Document findings accurately and timely in the electronic medical record.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care based on assessment data, patient diagnoses, lab results, physician orders, protocols, and standards of care.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members for daily plan adjustments and coordinate care transitions.
• Administer medications, monitor IV fluids, and document all interventions per policy.
• Coordinate needed referrals and consults, and provide education to patients and families throughout hospitalization.
• Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition, including use of restraints when medically indicated and pain management strategies.
• Maintain infection control and safety practices, including documentation of risk management concerns.
• Participate in performance‑improvement initiatives and evidence‑based practice activities.
• Serve as a resource for coworkers, provide onboarding support for new staff, and supervise student nurses as required.
• Adhere to all hospital policies, maintain professional competence, and complete mandatory training and certifications.

• Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Missouri.
• Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Demonstrated experience in acute care settings and competency in nursing fundamentals.
• Strong communication, clinical judgment, and collaborative teamwork skills.
