Provides personal attention, kindness, and professional insight to patients, offering expertise and encouragement to enhance each patient’s future and personal growth. This role is a Full‑Time position with no on‑call, overnight, or Sunday work.

Purpose and Scope

Supports FMCNA’s mission, vision, and core values. Provides safe and effective dialysis therapy for assigned patients under the direct supervision of a registered nurse, participates in the implementation and evaluation of patient care, and reports and documents all incidents, complaints, and problems to the supervisor.

Patient‑Related Responsibilities
  • Perform all technical aspects of dialysis procedures as prescribed.
  • Administer and monitor treatments according to current treatment plans or supervisor direction.
  • Monitor and document dialysis treatment parameters on flow sheets and patient records.
  • Report significant changes in patient condition or equipment problems to the supervisor.
  • Assist in developing and following teaching plans for patients and families about end‑stage renal disease, dialysis therapy, diet, and medications.
  • Perform and document pre-, interim, and post‑treatment reviews of patient condition.
  • Initiate basic CPR measures in the event of cardiac or pulmonary arrest and respond to emergency situations related to dialysis treatment.
  • Administer intravenous medication in accordance with physician orders and state nurse practice laws.
  • Assist with all emergency operational procedures.
Technical Responsibilities
  • Safely operate all dialysis‑related equipment according to proper procedures.
  • Provide minor troubleshooting when necessary.
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and sanitary environment in the dialysis facility treatment area.
  • Address all blood spills immediately according to FMCNA Bloodborne Pathogen Control Policies.
  • Operate all emergency equipment effectively in accordance with standard operating procedures.
Staff‑Related Responsibilities
  • Participate in staff meetings as scheduled.
  • Assist in short‑term and long‑term patient care plan meetings.
  • Acquire current practice knowledge related to dialysis principles and techniques by attending scheduled in‑service classes.
  • Act as a resource person for other staff members.
  • Coordinate care plans with physicians, dietitians, and social workers.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
  • Desk and computer work; interaction with patients, staff, and physicians.
  • Heavy lifting and moving of patients and equipment up to 200 lbs, and lifting solutions up to 30 lbs.
  • Frequent, prolonged standing; ability to bend over.
  • Travel between assigned facilities and regional meetings may be required.
  • Work in a health‑care environment with controlled temperature and moderate noise levels.
  • May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases.
Education

Graduate of an accredited School of Practical Nursing (LPN, LVN) with current state licensure.

Experience and Required Skills
  • One year of medical‑surgical nursing experience preferred.
  • Hemodialysis experience preferred but not required.
  • ICU experience preferred but not required.
  • Completion of a training course in the theory and practice of hemodialysis.
  • Completion of CPR certification.
  • Completion of the Nurses Technical Training Program upon hire or soon thereafter.
  • Ability to provide coverage at area facilities during times of short‑staffing.
  • Meet Ishihara’s Color Blindness test as a condition of employment.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
Compensation

Hourly Rate: $22.00 – $35.00
