Medical Assistant / Licensed Practical Nurse – Pediatric Clinic

Job Location:

University Health Truman Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri.

Position Type:
Full Time.

Work Schedule:

9:00AM – 5:30PM. Hours Per Week: 40.

Medical Assistant Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for care—preparing charts, checking vital signs, and setting the stage for excellent care.
  • Perform hands‑on clinical work: administer medications, give immunizations, collect specimens, and assist with minor procedures such as wound care and suture removal.
  • Maintain accurate patient records in the electronic medical records (EMR) system.
  • Support providers and participate in team huddles to keep the clinic running smoothly.
  • Educate patients on treatment plans, new medications, and follow‑up care.
Medical Assistant Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, NRCMA, or CCMA) – required at hire and must be maintained.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain before starting.
  • Knowledge of point‑of‑care testing, immunizations, and injections.
  • Strong problem‑solving, organization, and time‑management skills.
  • Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
  • Comfortable with Microsoft applications and EMR systems.
  • Radiology certification (if required for X‑ray functions).
Licensed Practical Nurse Responsibilities
  • Provide compassionate nursing care under registered nurse supervision in acute, long‑term, home health, and ambulatory settings.
  • Perform patient assessments, collect data, and document care with precision.
  • Administer medications and treatments following established protocols.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to meet patients’ needs.
  • Follow Missouri State Board of Nursing Practice Act standards to ensure safe, high‑quality care.
Licensed Practical Nurse Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited practical or vocational nursing program.
  • Current Missouri practical nurse license.
  • Certified Basic Life Support (BCLS).
