The Meat Market Associate is responsible for cleaning the food prep and storage areas in the department in a safe and appropriate manner. This department is where meat cutting, trimming, and preparing meat products for sale in a retail environment is completed. The work environment is cold/refrigerator/freezer areas.

• Provide continuous attention to customer needs; greet, assist, and thank customers in a prompt, courteous and friendly manner.
• Offer product suggestions when appropriate.
• Clean food prep and storage areas where meat inventory has been cut, trim, and prepared as well as mechanical equipment and tools used in the process.
• Assist with stocking and rotating department products to ensure freshness and date control; restock and use supply items efficiently to eliminate waste and to maintain the lowest supply cost.
• Clean department equipment and tools in a safe and appropriate manner.
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues and notify store management.
• Notify management of team member theft, customer shoplifting, unauthorized mark-downs, property defacement or any action that is illegal and/or against company policy.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, including cleaning equipment and utensils.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines to include maintaining a clean and orderly work area.
• Assist with inventory management and ordering supplies as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned to include stocking, cleaning, etc.

Exposure to cold temperatures; refrigerated rooms and walk-in freezers; sharp objects and tools in work area, noisy work environment; PPE required in some areas.

• 18 years of age or older
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently
• Ability to understand and follow instructions
• Previous experience cleaning in meat cutting and preparing areas
• Customer service experience
• Ability to handle stressful situations
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Effective communication skills
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction)
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation

• Excellent Customer Service Attitude and Skills
• Prior experience in a retail or grocery environment preferred
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a meat cutter
• Excellent knife skills and knowledge of different cuts of meat
• Strong work ethic and attention to detail
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to work flexible hours to include evenings and weekends
