Role Overview

NSCS' Youth Elemento is seeking a Young Adult Peer Mentor to support youth with mental health challenges and substance abuse difficulties. This full‑time position (40 hours per week) engages in one‑on‑one and group sessions, providing a safe, strength‑based environment for personal growth.

• Provide support in one‑on‑one and group settings, guiding young adults through mental health and substance use challenges.
• Plan and lead group sessions on stress management, coping mechanisms, healthy relationships, and positive lifestyle choices.
• Assist in navigating local resources such as counseling services, support groups, and wellness programs.
• Create an inclusive, non‑judgmental space where participants feel comfortable sharing.
• Encourage advocacy and mental health awareness to reduce stigma.
• Maintain professionalism, privacy, and respect for all participants.

• High‑school diploma or GED.
• Personal experience living with mental‑health challenges, substance use, trauma, or system involvement; willingness to share journey.
• Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, capable of community work, and must be 21 +.
