Position Type: Part‑Time
SUMMARYThe Student Intervention Specialist (SIS) supports students’ academic and behavioral success under the direction of the Building Administrator or certificated designee. This role builds positive relationships with students and stakeholders, provides targeted interventions, teaches conflict‑resolution skills, assists in addressing attendance challenges, and reinforces school wide values and expectations for academic excellence. The SIS will support the implementation of school wide practices and effective academic and behavioral strategies identified to meet the unique needs of students.
ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS
- Restorative Justice Practices:
- Use restorative practices to proactively address and repair student relationships
- Mediate conflict resolution(s)
- Lead student circles
- Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS):
- Participate in PBIS committee meetings
- Support SWIS data preparation
- Implement PBIS rewards and supports
- Academic Supports and Interventions:
- Participate in tutorials
- Provide support academic interventions
- Log and track academic growth for identified students
- Behavioral Support / Interventions:
- Gather, share and monitor pertinent information for behavior interventions and support positive outcomes
- Implement Check‑in/Check‑out program to monitor at‑risk students and coordinate efforts with staff
- Collaborate and communicate effectively through a variety of methods
- Support student supervision with the intent to monitor interventions during a non‑instructional and unstructured time
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance
- Other duties as assigned by the Building Principal or designee
- Two years of higher‑education study meeting the criteria of the Higher Education Act, Section 101(a). All classes must be at level 100 or higher, or an associate’s degree, or pass the ETS Parapro Assessment test or be in the process of completing para‑pro certification.
- Bilingual/Biliterate Preferred
- Experience working with P‑12 students
- First Aid/CPR card or ability to obtain
- Demonstrate basic computer literacy skills
- Demonstrate consistent punctuality and attendance
- Demonstrate flexibility with schedule changes as student needs change
- Work in noisy and crowded environments
- Previous experience in an educational setting preferred

Retirement benefits are provided through the WA State Department of Retirement Systems (DRS). Paid leave benefits: 180–259 Day Employees – 10 sick days, 10 paid holidays, and 3 personal leave days; 260+ Day Employees – minimum 12 sick days, 13 paid holidays, and 3 personal leave days, plus a minimum of 10 days vacation after the first year.
Benefits may be prorated based upon date of hire and hours per day.
