Brief Description
The Medical Assistant Student plays a key role in the daily provision of patient care, working directly with patients and managing the provider's daily workflow to ensure that our patients have a welcoming and productive visit. The MA Student manages and coordinates individual patient care as well as supporting care coordination and positive health outcomes for the patient panel under the direct supervision of a certified Medical Assistant until it is determined that full competency and comprehension have been proven.
The Medical Assistant Student serves as an essential liaison within the care team and between the care team and other MLCHC departments.

The MA Student manages and coordinates individual patient care as well as supporting care coordination and positive health outcomes for the patient panel under the direct supervision of a certified Medical Assistant until it is determined that full competency and comprehension have been proven.
The Medical Assistant Student serves as an essential liaison within the care team and between the care team and other MLCHC departments.
- Performs direct patient care responsibilities to support the medical visit and prepare patient for exam/treatment.
- Organizes and manages the daily workflow to support the provider and the team to work smoothly and efficiently.
- Ensures that the patient's medical chart is updated, complete and accurate.
- Performs care coordination to ensure continuity of the patient's care and follow-up.
- Properly performs room preparation, maintenance, sterilization, and quality procedures, according to OSHA standards and clinic policy.
- Job duties require active enrollment in the InReach Medical Assistant Apprenticeship program for the duration of up to one year.
- Must maintain a minimum of 80% on all coursework throughout the program to prove competency in patient care.
- Must be able to obtain Medical Assistant licensure with the State of Washington upon completion of the Medical Assistant Apprenticeship program.
- Must obtain a BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- Ability to read and speak Spanish and/or Russian is required.
- Must complete annual mandatory education.
- Must have reliable transportation and provide documentation of auto insurance and valid driver's license as required.
- Travel between work sites as needed.
