Job Summary
The 4‑H Program Educator, part of the Division of Extension Wisconsin 4‑H Program and housed within the Positive Youth Development Institute, provides overall leadership for a county‑based 4‑H program. The role includes Program Administration, Volunteer Management, and Education & Youth Advocacy.
Key Responsibilities- Lead program administration, expanding 4‑H membership and ensuring quality membership experiences.
- Maintain consistency of 4‑H programs with the purpose, vision, and values of the Wisconsin 4‑H program, including chartered 4‑H clubs and groups.
- Oversee policy and risk management for all 4‑H programs.
- Develop collaborative relationships with other organizations to broaden programming opportunities.
- Manage volunteers delivering 4‑H programming, including identification, selection, orientation, training, utilization, recognition, and evaluation.
- Provide coaching and support to volunteers and ensure compliance with Wisconsin 4‑H, UW‑Madison Division of Extension, and USDA policies.
- Utilize various delivery methods to provide resources and teach content in youth development, organization development, and volunteer development.
- Serve as the connection to educational resources of Wisconsin 4‑H, UW‑Madison Extension, and the USDA.
- Support youth engagement and leadership in 4‑H clubs, groups, and programs.
- Facilitate positive development of young people through 4‑H programs, projects, and activities.
- Coordinate logistics and resources for outreach programs, including scheduling and securing resources.
- Develop, evaluate, and recommend improvements to curriculum and programs.
- Assist with monitoring outreach program budget spending.
- Demonstrated experience in programming and/or service delivery related to youth development.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain professional work environments.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with people from a wide range of backgrounds and perspectives.
- Two years of experience leading, managing, and/or evaluating educational programs.
- Experience managing and/or supervising volunteers and/or staff.
- Conflict resolution skills.
- Knowledge of relevant policies, procedures, regulations, risk and data management requirements.
- Ability to collaborate with other agencies, community-based services, or organizations.
Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in a field related to this position’s focus.
Preferred:
Master’s Degree in a relevant field.
Starting salary: $60,795.00 per year. Comprehensive benefits package includes generous paid time off, competitive health, dental, vision, life insurance, tax‑advantaged savings accounts, and participation in the Wisconsin Retirement System pension fund.
Location & Work RequirementsMain office:
Green Lake, WI. Primary programming focus on Green Lake County; additional work may be conducted over a broader area. Position requires in‑person, onsite work at a designated campus location. Occasional nights and weekends may be required to meet program needs.
