Job Overview
Under the supervision of the Associate Dean, the instructor will teach conventional machining, CNC machining set‑up and operations in a related laboratory environment, and provide general support and curriculum assistance in machine tool operations and programming.
Responsibilities- Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching-related activities.
- Manage the classroom/laboratory.
- Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation.
- Manage equipment, supplies and materials.
- Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues.
- Collaborate with advisory committee in program area.
- Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
- Promote the education/training program, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to market the college.
- Support student organizations and activities.
- Develop relationships with business and industry.
- Complete program evaluation and follow‑up.
- Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in field.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Completion of a Wisconsin Indentured apprenticeship in Machine Tool or Tool and Die.
- Minimum of five (5) years full‑time or equivalent (10,000 hours) of relevant work experience in CNC programming, including CAM experience.
- In addition, at least one of the following must be met:
- At least one year of work experience within the last five years.
- Two years of teaching Numerical Control coursework at the post‑secondary level within the last five years.
- Journey level status in either Tool & Die or Machine Tool.

- Email – experience with an email system (Gmail, Outlook).
- Telephone – experience with a voice mail system.
- Computer – experience with Microsoft Office Suite/Google.
- Online Information Management Systems – experience with self‑service or other online information management systems used for student advising, student programs, grading, class schedules and rosters.
- Blackboard Ultra – experience with Blackboard or other web‑based course management systems.
- Technology‑based Instruction – experience with technology‑based instructional delivery systems including SMART, interactive touch screen monitors, LCD projectors, DVD players and/or other classroom technology.
- Emerging Technologies – experience with emerging technologies (e.g., social networking applications).
This position supports the Manufacturing, Construction, and Transportation Pathway and is available to start as soon as possible.
Hours/LocationThis position is up to a 0.5 FTE; the number of hours worked per week will vary based on enrollment, departmental need and course load. Work is conducted in person during scheduled course hours.
SalaryBeginning in the fall of 2024, the starting hourly wage for all part‑time faculty is $40 per course hour of teaching. Part‑time faculty are also compensated for an additional 45 minutes of time for each hour of instruction to cover office hours and prep time, which is equivalent to $70 per hour. This starting hourly wage of $40 an hour is non‑negotiable unless market conditions dictate otherwise.
