Modine Manufacturing Company in Racine, Wisconsin is hiring for an Automotive Test Technician II to work first shift supporting our Tech Center team. This position is on-site 5 days per week.
This position will be responsible for the setting up and testing of heat exchanger products in our Structural Test Laboratory. Technicians are responsible for providing reliable and timely testing in accordance with written Laboratory Work Orders and validated test methods as prescribed in the Racine Tech Center Quality Management System.
Structural Test Laboratory

The primary activity of this laboratory is used to assess durability and reliability of components and assemblies under a variety of loading scenarios. Tests include pressure cycle, thermal cycle, single‑axis vibration, multi‑axis vibration, hydrostatic burst test and erosion/corrosion testing.
- Setup tests per Laboratory Work Order (LWO) (debug test equipment, instrumentation and data acquisition systems)
- Perform tests per LWO according to the written work instructions.
- Generate test reports in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Record the progress of UUT (receipt, start, complete, and publish dates in addition to the results, test station and technician) in the LWO log.
- Assist with measurement system calibration.
- Participate in fixture design and/or fabrication.
- Maintain test equipment and record repairs or modifications.
- Train others as determined by the Test Operations Manager in the operation of test equipment and test methods.
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area.
- Associate degree in a technical discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Hydraulic or Automotive) with 4–8 years of relevant technical experience, or 7–11 years of equivalent experience in a related testing environment.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a cross‑functional, team‑oriented laboratory environment.
- Demonstrated hands‑on experience performing laboratory testing, including equipment set‑up, operation and monitoring.
- Proven ability to effectively prioritise multiple tasks, maintain organisation and adapt to changing test requirements.
- Strong practical troubleshooting skills with a solid analytical approach to problem solving.
- Basic familiarity with laboratory test instruments and calibration procedures.
- Capability to perform or assist with routine laboratory equipment maintenance and upkeep.
- Proficiency with basic computer applications, including spreadsheets, word processing, data entry and electronic file management.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical information.
- Solid mechanical aptitude with the ability to work confidently with tools, fixtures and test hardware.
