Electrical Technician

The focus of this position is to aid in the validation of electrical components for Modine Thermal Management Systems (TMS). This includes working on new products, existing products, and testing laboratories. Key responsibilities include performing experimental and validation testing and providing feedback for Modine TMS products. The role also involves maintaining the electrical lab and working with other TMS testing areas on items pertaining to electrical expertise.

Ability to understand and utilize technical documentation including schematics, prints, and datasheets is required. The candidate should be able to assemble electromechanical systems to engineering specifications with available resources. The position expects to improve Modine products and processes by applying existing and learned knowledge while staying informed of new developments. Implementation of new components and technologies in an ethical and justifiable manner is also part of the role.

Ensuring quality products following both internal and industry standards is crucial. Communication of potential issues, existing issues, and overall design feedback with appropriate stakeholders is necessary. Occasional travel to provide support with field troubleshooting and modification of existing products is required. Projects should be completed within allocated budgets while maintaining high quality and performance standards. Assisting team members with product design, testing, and troubleshooting is also part of the role.

Validation of new or changed components supplied to Modine, including controllers, wire harnesses, fans, and others, is required. Internal engineering design specifications for electromechanical components and systems should be validated and maintained. Internal safety standards should be enforced.

Required education and qualifications include an associate's degree from an accredited two-year college or school in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics Technology, or related field. Intermediate level of electrical proficiency is required. Soldering and electrical rework experience is necessary. Preferred experience includes 5 years in an electrical or related position. Proficiency in troubleshooting, documentation, and effective communication (oral and written) is required.

Competent organizational skills with the ability to meet rapid timelines and produce documentation in a timely manner are necessary. The candidate should be able to work independently to propose and implement solutions to barriers with minimal supervision. Effective teamwork and the ability to prioritize tasks, create and implement effective plans to meet goals are essential. Knowledge of the Controller Area Network (CAN) protocol and SAE J1939 specifications is preferred.

Knowledge of electrical codes, such as NEC, UL, IEC, and CE, is beneficial. Experience with electrical lab equipment is preferred. A valid passport for international travel within 6 months of start date is required.
