Senior Environmental Engineer - Milwaukee or Madison Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Professional to join our team and lead environmental consulting projects from initial field investigation through final reporting and project completion.

This role is ideal for an experienced Environmental Engineer, Environmental Consultant, Geologist, or Geotechnical Professional with strong experience in environmental assessments, site investigations, remediation, regulatory compliance, and project management.

The Senior Environmental Professional will manage day-to-day project activities, coordinate field teams and subcontractors, oversee budgets and schedules, and serve as a key point of contact for clients, agencies, and project stakeholders. The position offers a combination of office-based project management and hands-on field work
, with opportunities to contribute to business development and client growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Environmental Consulting & Field Services
  • Prepare and deliver Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs)
  • Lead and/or participate in environmental field investigations, including:
  • Soil and groundwater sampling
  • Construction monitoring and instrumentation
  • Asbestos and lead-based paint assessments
  • Remediation system monitoring and reporting
  • Conduct field measurements, sample collection, and documentation
  • Compile and analyze field data and prepare technical reports

    Prepare environmental compliance and regulatory reports
  • Perform engineering calculations using standard formulas and applicable software
  • Support site remediation, waste management, soil improvement, permitting, and regulatory coordination
Project Management
  • Manage medium to large-scale environmental projects from planning through completion
  • Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and field activities
  • Coordinate internal field personnel and project resources
  • Coordinate subcontractors, including obtaining bids and scheduling field activities
  • Work closely with operations to ensure appropriate staffing and resources for projects
  • Perform quality control reviews of environmental reports and project deliverables
Client & Business Development
  • Maintain relationships with existing clients, agencies, and project stakeholders
  • Assist with and/or lead proposals, scopes of work, and business development initiatives
  • Identify opportunities to expand environmental engineering and consulting services
  • Promote the firm's environmental services to local clients and regulatory agencies
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geology
    , or a related discipline
  • 10-15+ years of environmental consulting or related industry experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG) license in Wisconsin
    , or ability to obtain licensure within 6 months
  • Experience with Wisconsin and/or Illinois environmental regulations strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of environmental site assessments, field investigations, remediation, and regulatory compliance
  • Previous experience managing medium to large environmental projects
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat
  • Ability to work independently while also coordinating multidisciplinary project teams
  • Combination of office and field-based work
  • Travel may be required up to 50%
  • Must be comfortable performing field work and occasionally lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs.
  • Position may involve standing, walking, reaching, and other physical activity associated with field investigations and construction monitoring
  • Competitive salary from $110k to $130k
  • Quarterly bonuses (yearly total around 30% of salary)
