Summary:

The Mechanical Engineer reports to the Mechanical Engineering Supervisor. This role is responsible for completing process engineering projects to improve production efficiency, planning process automation, customizing material transfer systems, and producing AutoCAD diagrams. Additionally, they oversee mechanical contractors and design utility systems while executing special projects assigned by the Maintenance and Engineering Manager.

• Complete process engineering projects throughout plant with an emphasis on production efficiency improvement.
• Recommend and plan process automation projects including cost estimation.
• Design and customize material transfer systems to improve use of space throughout the plant.
• Recommend plant layout changes for efficiency improvement and compliance with industry standards for food safety.
• Produce and update AutoCAD diagrams of production processes, piping systems and overall plant organization.
• Design and customize steam, air and water systems performing flow calculations to size valves and pumps.
• Oversee the efforts of mechanical contractors completing projects throughout the plant.
• Work with contractors to ensure that projects are completed within specifications on time within budget.
• Complete special projects assigned by Engineering Manager.

• Bachelor's or Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience 5+ years.

• Industrial project management with an emphasis on production process engineering.
• Proficient with AutoCAD or any other 3D model Software.
• Food industry experience is preferred but not required.

• Regularly required to sit for long periods of time doing office tasks on a computer
• Frequently is required to sit, stand, walk, talk and hear
• Occasionally required to reach above shoulders, climb, work at heights, crouch, stoop or kneel
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds usually from floor to waist level, up to 20 feet away
• Ability to work under conditions of high temperature and high humidity for extended periods of time
