Financial Aid Officer
The University of Wisconsin-Parkside Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid actively participates in serving prospective and current students and their families through financial aid related services. Financial Aid officers provide counseling for prospective and current students (and their parents when applicable) regarding available sources of financial aid. Ability to present comprehensive financial aid information to individuals and groups is strongly desired.
Financial Aid Officers will maintain an understanding of the federal needs analysis, financial aid application process, and federal, state, and institutional regulations and policies. Participation in training through national and state financial aid organization membership, UW System, and the Department of Education is supported and encouraged for team members. Flexibility to work additional hours during peak demand, and occasional weekend and evening events.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Represent UW-Parkside Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid at university events and events off campus (Events include presentations, assisting with FAFSA filing, serving as a representative at resource tables, or other duties as needed)
- Provide counseling to students and families about financial aid process, paperwork, budgeting, and payment
- Assist in collecting of paperwork, explaining requirements, and reviewing documentation
- Review financial aid applications, and assist with the processing of awarding various aid programs
- Assist in reporting requirements to various third-party stakeholders; scholarship organizations, state agencies, or the Department of Education
- Maintain regulatory compliance with federal and state regulations related to financial aid and student data
- Other duties as assigned
Key Job Responsibilities
- Triages processes or applications if issues arise
- Awards financial aid to qualifying students
- Audits financial aid applications for awarding financial aid to qualifying students according to established policies and in compliance with federal and state regulations
- May hire, train, and supervise student employees
- Serves as a point of contact to third party stakeholders about financial aid information and processes
- Assists in collecting, preparing, and analyzing financial aid data for stakeholders

Compensation: $48,000/annually
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite—Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Strong presentation skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using a student information system (People Soft, Banner, Ellucian, etc.)
- Knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations
- 1+ year experience working in higher education
