An ASL Interpreter opportunity is available for the school year in Winnebago County, Wisconsin. This full school-year role is based in Oshkosh and supports students across multiple grade levels, with current openings noted for high school, middle school, and K-1.

- Provide 1:1 interpreting support throughout the school day to ensure students can access classroom instruction and activities.
- Interpret between spoken English and ASL, including transliteration and oral interpreting as needed for student access.
- Facilitate clear communication between the student and teachers, school staff, peers, administrators, and related service providers.
- Support communication access while maintaining professional neutrality, confidentiality, and ethical decision-making in accordance with FERPA.
- Document services provided and follow applicable district, state, and federal requirements, including interpreter standards and professional ethics.
Qualifications:
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) with the ability to interpret English to ASL and ASL to English.
- Knowledge of educational interpreting practices and classroom terminology.
- Understanding of Deaf culture and the communication needs of Deaf/Hard of Hearing students.
- Strong receptive and expressive communication skills, professionalism, organization, and time management in a school setting.
- Preferred credentials include Wisconsin DPI Educational Interpreter License, a passing EIPA score (initial-license benchmark noted as 3.3), and/or RID certifications (e.g., NIC, ED:K-12, CDI, or related).
