Position Summary

The Process Engineer I supports manufacturing operations by developing, improving, and sustaining production processes throughout the sheet metal fabrication operation. This entry‑level engineering position partners closely with Production, Quality, Planning, Purchasing, and Maintenance to improve safety, quality, productivity, and on‑time delivery.

The Process Engineer I assists with troubleshooting manufacturing issues, implementing engineering changes, supporting new product introductions, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across laser cutting, forming, welding, finishing, and assembly operations.

Manufacturing Process Support
  • Support daily manufacturing operations by troubleshooting production and quality issues
  • Assist in developing efficient manufacturing methods for new and existing products
  • Evaluate production processes and recommend improvements that increase throughput and reduce waste
  • Support fabrication processes including:
  • Press brake forming
  • Welding (MIG, TIG, robotic)
  • Hardware insertion
  • Grinding and finishing
  • Mechanical assembly
  • Participate in root cause investigations and corrective actions for production issues
  • Create and maintain manufacturing routings and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
  • Develop and revise work instructions and standard operating procedures
  • Process Engineering Change Notices (ECNs)
  • Maintain engineering documentation within the ERP system
Product & Customer Support
  • Review customer drawings for manufacturability (DFM)
  • Assist with prototype builds and first article production
  • Support product launches and engineering transfers into production
  • Collaborate with Sales and Customer Service to resolve technical questions
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing and 5S initiatives
  • Analyze production metrics to identify opportunities for improved efficiency
  • Recommend tooling, fixture, or process improvements that reduce cycle time and improve quality
Quality & Compliance
  • Support corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
  • Assist with nonconforming material investigations
  • Ensure manufacturing processes comply with company quality standards and customer specifications
  • Support ISO 9001 quality system requirements
Experience & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering discipline, preferred but not required
  • Recent college graduate or up to three (3) years of experience in a manufacturing engineering, process engineering, or production engineering role
  • Manufacturing internship, co‑op, or other hands‑on engineering experience preferred
  • Experience in sheet metal fabrication, welding, laser cutting, CNC machining, press brake operations, or metal forming is preferred but not required
  • Working knowledge of CAD preferred Solid Works
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, including Excel (formulas, Pivot Tables, and data analysis), Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams
