CNC Machinist – 2nd Shift

This role is a CNC machinist position on 2nd shift, focused on operating CNC equipment, performing machine setups, loading and unloading parts, and conducting quality checks to ensure precision and consistency in production. You will use mechanical aptitude, blueprint reading skills, and CNC troubleshooting abilities to keep equipment running efficiently and maintain high-quality standards.

Responsibilities
  • Operate CNC machines on 2nd shift, ensuring safe and efficient production.
  • Perform complete machine setups, including tooling, offsets, and programming adjustments as needed.
  • Load and unload parts and materials from CNC machines in accordance with production requirements.
  • Read and interpret blueprints to produce parts to exact specifications and tolerances.
  • Conduct routine quality checks on finished and in-process parts to verify accuracy and adherence to standards.
  • Perform tool changes and adjust offsets to maintain part quality and machine performance.
  • Troubleshoot CNC machine issues and make necessary adjustments to minimize downtime.
  • Assist with changeovers between jobs, ensuring setups are completed accurately and promptly.
  • Apply mechanical knowledge to identify and resolve basic equipment and process problems.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and maintain a smooth workflow.
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area.
Essential Skills
  • At least 3 years of CNC machining experience in a production or similar environment.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience reading and working from blueprints.
  • At least 2 years of experience performing tool changes and adjusting machine offsets.
  • Strong knowledge of CNC machine setup processes.
  • Hands-on CNC operating experience with mills and related equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot CNC machines and make appropriate adjustments.
  • Mechanical aptitude and understanding of machining processes.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work reliably on 2nd shift and adhere to scheduled hours.
Additional

Skills & Qualifications
  • Lathe experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with both milling and turning operations is a plus.
  • Experience in performing changeovers between different jobs or parts.
  • Familiarity with basic CNC programming adjustments is beneficial.
  • Comfort working with minimal supervision once trained.
  • Willingness to work voluntary overtime on Fridays and Saturdays when available.

Environment

This position is on 2nd shift, with a choice between two schedules:
Monday through Thursday from 3:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., or Monday through Friday from 3:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., both with a shift premium. The facility runs frequent voluntary overtime on Fridays and Saturdays from 5:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., offering additional hours for those who want them. You will work in a production machining environment using CNC mills and potentially lathes, with a focus on precision manufacturing, quality checks, and efficient setups.

The workplace emphasizes safety, consistent procedures, and a structured contract-to-hire process over roughly 90 business days.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Racine, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $26.00/hr.
