Twin Disc is seeking an experienced and results-driven Manufacturing Production Supervisor to lead manufacturing operations within our machining and/or assembly departments. The Production Supervisor is responsible for directing daily production activities, leading and developing employees, ensuring safety and quality standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. This role plays a critical part in achieving operational goals while fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and employee engagement.
Key Responsibilities Production Leadership- Direct and coordinate daily activities of production employees in machining and assembly operations.
- Plan, prioritize, and assign work to ensure production schedules, quality requirements, and customer commitments are met.
- Monitor workflow, staffing levels, and equipment utilization to maximize productivity and efficiency.
- Partner with Production Planning and other operational departments to achieve manufacturing objectives.
- Participate in daily management meetings and communicate departmental performance, issues, and priorities.
Employee Development & Leadership - Lead, coach, mentor, and develop a team of 15-30production employees.
- Facilitate employee training and skill development initiatives.
- Conduct performance evaluations and support skill-based advancement programs.
- Promote employee engagement through effective communication, recognition, and accountability.
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, disciplinary actions, performance management, and other employment decisions.
Continuous Improvement - Drive Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance.
- Analyze production and operational data to identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Recommend and implement enhancements to production methods, equipment, workflows, and operating procedures.
- Track and manage departmental KPIs, visual management boards, and continuous improvement activities.
Safety & Compliance - Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and environmental standards.
- Conduct safety investigations, incident reviews, and corrective action activities.
- Promote a culture of safety through employee involvement and proactive risk management.
- Enforce company policies and maintain a safe and productive work environment.
Quality & Operational Excellence - Balance quality, productivity, cost, delivery, and employee morale to achieve business objectives.
- Maintain accurate production, labor, and attendance records.
- Support departmental budget planning and resource management.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Supply Chain teams to resolve operational challenges.
Required Qualifications - Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or a related field; or
- Associate degree plus equivalent manufacturing leadership experience.
Experience - Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience leading production teams and driving operational performance improvements.
- Experience in machining, assembly, powertrain, transmission, or industrial manufacturing environments preferred.
Technical Skills - Knowledge of production planning and scheduling processes.
- Experience with ERP systems; JD Edwards experience preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, safety requirements, and quality systems.
