ABOUTTHE ROLE
As the Associate Manager, Safety, Health and Environment (SHE), you will be responsible for planning, designing, implementing, and overseeing the site's safety and health compliance programs. You will lead continuous improvement initiatives, including data analysis, incident management, and risk assessment activities, to help maintain a safe and compliant work environment. In this role, you will manage direct reports and contractors while developing and partnering with safety and health champions across the site's Operations and Maintenance teams.
You will work collaboratively to ensure critical compliance activities are completed effectively and consistently while supporting the site's overall safety and health objectives.
- Serve as a visible safety leader by maintaining a strong presence on the manufacturing floor and engaging directly with employees, supervisors, and managers.
- Lead the site's injury reduction efforts through proactive hazard identification, risk mitigation, and accountability for corrective actions.
- Drive a culture where safety ownership exists at all levels of the organization through coaching, mentoring, and influencing leaders and employees.
- Conduct routine floor walks, safety observations, and field engagements to identify risks and remove barriers to safe work execution.
- Oversee the incident investigation process, with a focus on coaching teams to identify root causes, implement sustainable corrective actions, and prevent recurrence.
- Use data to identify trends, prioritize resources, and drive measurable improvements in safety performance.
- Challenge unsafe conditions, behaviors, and processes while fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, employee engagement, and participation.
- Oversee regulatory compliance programs while ensuring related activities support operational excellence and injury prevention.
- Lead, coach, and develop SHE professionals while establishing clear expectations for field engagement and performance.
- Partner with site operations leaders to deploy leader standard work for managers and supervisors to support the achievement of site-specific safety targets and objectives.
- Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, environmental science, engineering, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of safety, health, and environmental experience in a manufacturing environment, including demonstrated leadership responsibility.
- Demonstrated project management experience to enable prioritization and management of multiple projects to completion.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state and local environmental regulations.
- Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship for full-time employment.
- Advanced degree in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, environmental science, engineering, or a related discipline.
- Designation as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), or equivalent certification.
