Description

Convergint is looking for a full‑time, enthusiastic, results‑driven and forward‑thinking Security Technician to join our culture. You will be responsible for installing, programming, system start‑up/check‑out, certification, and related customer training on assigned Fire, Security, and/or Building Automation projects. You will deliver projects effectively and within budgeted cost and time schedules, act as key interface for technical support with the customer, maximize customer satisfaction, and may mentor less‑experienced staff.

What you’ll do

  • Install, program, test, repair, and service a variety of systems and equipment including security, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation.
  • Read complex blueprints, schematics, and manuals to determine installation requirements.
  • Operate systems to demonstrate equipment, commission new systems, analyze performance, and identify malfunctions.
  • Write non‑routine programs of substantial complexity for systems.
  • Take ownership of onsite projects, ensuring safety, quality, and performance.
  • Provide custom systems integrations, detailed upgrade planning, audits, and database management.
  • Consult with engineering personnel to resolve unusual problems in system operation, maintenance, and warranty work.
  • Perform all work in accordance with Federal, State, and local regulations and company health and safety policies.
  • Advise management regarding customer satisfaction, product performance, and installation standards.
  • Execute technical aspects of multiple projects, including preparation of deliverables, programming, graphics development, startup, certification testing, customer training, close‑out documentation, and ongoing support.
  • Identify potential project risks and develop strategies to minimize impact.
  • Coordinate projects with the Project Manager or Operations Manager, supervising subcontractors and installation work.
  • Mentor and train less experienced staff, supervise testing, tuning, and adjusting equipment.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

What you’ll need

  • Exceptional customer focus and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong technical skills related to building automation systems, fire alarm systems, and/or electronic security systems.
  • Advanced mechanical and electrical aptitude; ability to read blueprints and drawings; advanced math skills.
  • Highly proficient computer skills, including familiarity with MS Office.

Requirements

  • Education:

    College degree, trade school or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum experience:

    5‑7 years relevant.
  • Preferred experience (not required):
    Experience in electronic, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation industries.
