As a Safety & Security Worker at our Youth Development Care Center, you will play a vital role in maintaining a safe and supportive environment for youth in the facility, while also modeling positive behaviors and life skills.
Our new Youth Development Care Center located in Caledonia, WI is a modern, thoughtfully designed facility that reflects our commitment to rehabilitation and safety for both youth and staff.
Shifts- 1st shift: 7am-3pm
- 2nd shift: 3pm-11pm ($2.00/hr. shift premium)
- 3rd shift: 11pm-7am
Please note: 1st shift is not available. Must be available to work 2nd or 3rd shift
Receives supervision from a Safety & Security Coordinator and Safety & Security Supervisor.
Requirements- High school diploma or GED equivalency
- At least 21 years of age
- No disqualifying criminal convictions
- Ability to pass a Wisconsin caregiver background check and drug screening
- Prior experience working with youth preferred
- Must maintain residential phone availability
- Pass certification in the use of a self contained breathing apparatus
- Successfully complete the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board "Secure Detention Officer" training (184 hours) during your first year of employment and annual re-certification, which includes rescuing youth in case of fire or disaster, including pulling dead weight (using two-person carrying method, with 35-55 lb. breathing apparatus on back, carrying 120 lb. dummy)
- Prompt and regular attendance is required
- Knowledge of adolescent development and behavior
- Calm, compassionate and firm communication skills
- Strong computer and recordkeeping skills
- Ability to model accountability, respect and consistency
- Facial hair must be neatly trimmed and well-groomed
- Required to wear a designated uniform (uniform policy)
- Employee is required to carry a portable radio and handcuffs
- Possible exposure to blood borne pathogens
Continuous (67% - 100% of work day) feeling, talking, hearing and far, near, color, peripheral vision. Frequent (34% - 66% of work day) standing, walking, sitting, bending/twisting, reaching, lifting objects weighing 1-20 pounds and carrying objects weighing 1-10 pounds. Occasional (1% - 33% of work day) stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing using legs and feet, lifting objects weighing 21-80 pounds, carrying objects weighing 11-20 pounds, pushing/pulling objects weighing 1-20 pounds or 11-40 pounds on wheels.
