Admissions Nurse

Lincoln Trail Behavioral Health System is a 140-bed hospital offering inpatient services for adolescents, adults, military, veterans and first responders. Lincoln Trail Behavioral Health System has a spacious cafeteria, gymnasium, art/activity room, group rooms, classrooms and other areas to create a pleasant atmosphere for patients and their families. Lincoln Trail Behavioral Health System's quality services are provided by psychiatrists, licensed therapists, certified alcohol and drug counselors, activity therapists and teachers.

Also, care is given by registered nurses 24 hours a day. Since 1986, Lincoln Trail Behavioral Health System has been a proven psychiatric care provider in mental health and substance use.

The Admissions Nurse is a key member of the Lincoln Trail Behavioral Health System admissions team. The Admissions Nurse responsible for providing professional nursing care, using the nursing process, to patients within the treatment milieu (child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric), according to the Standards of Nursing Practice and Care.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Initiates and completes admission assessment, treatment plan, and nursing admit note.
  • Assess, monitors, and records patient's condition including physical, behavioral, psychosocial and pain components.
  • Reports significant deviations from normal to charge nurse, supervisor or physician.
  • Assess, implements, and documents suicide, homicide, elopement, and special precautions according to policy and procedure.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing
  • Current RN licensure or work permit in the state of Kentucky
  • No experience is required; however, psychiatric nursing is preferred
  • Must have knowledge of family dynamics, adaptive/mal adaptive coping skills that families use, parenting skills, and ability to work with family systems in effort to resolve conflicts
  • Must have basis understanding of chemically dependent families and sources available in communities to provide support to the patient and family.

Licensure/Certification:

  • CPR Certification
  • RN Licensure

Knowledge:

Prefer knowledge of crisis intervention and risk assessment, psychiatric diagnoses, basic chemical dependency, age specific growth and development and crisis and behavior management.
