Position Summary:

The Safety/Security Officer is responsible for maintaining safety and security across the Radcliff Veterans Center facilities, grounds, buildings, and transportation of residents, and performing other duties as required.

• Transport residents to appointments
• Provide safety and security duties
• Perform patrols of buildings and grounds
• Secure all buildings and maintain daily logs of persons entering and leaving
• Act as main switchboard operator when regular operator is absent

Education: High school graduate.

Experience, Training, or

Skills:

Must have two years of military, security guard/officer, safety, corrections, or law enforcement experience.

Substitute Experience for

Education:

Additional experience in one of the above areas will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Special Requirements: Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, and any required licensure, certification, or credential for the length of employment.

Incumbents must be able to work extended hours, perform work outdoors in inclement weather, and respond to emergencies 24/7.

Initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
