Senior Cost Accountant

Work Model:
You'll work in a hybrid model, onsite at your designated Regal Rexnord location at least 3 days per week (Monday–Thursday), with flexibility to work remotely up to 2 days, including Friday.

Position Overview:

The Senior Cost Accountant is responsible for leading and supporting plant-level cost accounting activities, including inventory valuation, cost analysis, overhead rate development, and audit support. This role provides oversight and guidance to a Junior Cost Accountant and serves as a key financial partner to Operations, Engineering, FP&A, and other cross-functional teams.

This position may be filled at a level commensurate with the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications.

Senior Cost Accounting Responsibilities
  • Review monthly journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations related to inventory and cost accounts
  • Perform excess and obsolete (E&O) inventory reporting and reserve analysis
  • Lead physical inventory planning, execution, reconciliation, and follow-up reporting for internal and external audits
  • Develop and maintain standard labor, material, fixed, and variable overhead rates
  • Develop and maintain DOD, standard labor, and overhead rates
  • Drive margin improvement and costing initiatives in partnership with Operations and Engineering
  • Perform inventory capitalization analysis
  • Support internal and external audit requests and reviews
  • Provide guidance, oversight, and technical support to the Junior Cost Accountant
Cost Accounting & Inventory Responsibilities
  • Analyze bills of materials and routings to prepare new items for cost rollups
  • Perform cost rollups and activate new items in the ERP system
  • Prepare weekly and monthly inventory reporting by plant and product line
  • Manage work orders, including weekly and monthly variance analysis
  • Analyze and reconcile miscellaneous inventory, scrap, and pending inventory transactions
  • Prepare monthly journal entries and inventory account reconciliations
  • Plan and lead physical inventories and support the annual standard cost update
  • Analyze make-versus-buy decisions and support operational cost optimization initiatives
  • Utilize One Stream and ERP systems to retrieve, analyze, and report financial data
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy, controls, and reporting timeliness
  • Support or lead special projects and cross-functional initiatives as required
Required

Skills & Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles, inventory valuation, and manufacturing accounting
  • Experience developing labor, material, and overhead cost rates
  • Ability to analyze and explain cost variances and inventory valuation impacts
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional manufacturing and finance teams
  • Experience supporting internal and external audits
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

Years of experience and level of responsibility will vary depending on the candidate's background, skill set, and demonstrated capabilities.

Preferred

Skills & Qualifications
  • 3–5 years of progressive accounting or cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
  • CPA, CMA, or other relevant professional certification
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle) and financial reporting tools (e.g., One Stream)
  • Experience leading or mentoring junior accounting staff
