Radford University invites applications and nominations for a 9‑month Assistant Professor of Nursing in the College of Nursing’s Undergraduate Department at Radford’s main campus to support its prelicensure BSN track. This role offers a meaningful opportunity to shape the academic journeys of emerging nursing students into a vibrant community focused profession.
The Assistant Professor will join a student‑centered and mission‑driven College of Nursing that values innovative teaching, strong faculty engagement, and continuous program improvement. Faculty in this role play a critical part in delivering high‑quality nursing education that is rigorous, relevant, and responsive to the evolving healthcare landscape. Prelicensure faculty will prepare students for dynamic healthcare careers through rigorous, evidence‑based education, hands‑on clinical experiences and mentorship.
Teaching responsibilities include in‑person lectures, skill laboratory instruction, and clinical teaching in acute care and community settings for undergraduate students.
Beyond the classroom, this role provides the opportunity to collaborate with dedicated colleagues on curriculum development, assessment, and strategic initiatives that advance the College of Nursing’s Undergraduate Department and the university’s broader academic mission. The Assistant Professor will contribute to a culture of excellence through shared governance, service, and scholarly engagement, while helping ensure that the prelicensure BSN track remains responsive to workforce needs and professional standards.
Faculty are supported in their role through a robust onboarding experience, are paired with a mentor, and may be enrolled in the College of Nursing’s graduate certificate in nursing education.

The successful candidate will have:
- Earned doctoral degree in Nursing or a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a PhD or EdD in a related field.
- Unencumbered Virginia Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligibility for licensure in Virginia.
- Minimum of five years of adult clinical nursing experience.
- Ability to teach undergraduate nursing coursework aligned with the prelicensure BSN curriculum.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in an academic environment.
- Participation in on‑campus activities and service responsibilities.
- Prior teaching experience in classroom and clinical learning environments.
